Vice-President : Captain M : Callum. npHE object of this Society is to insti- _!_ tute in. the Province of Southland an Annual Meeting for the encouragement of Highland and other Games. — The first Meeting is proposed to take place in the immediate vicinity of Invercargill, on THURSDAY, the Ist day of January 1863— when, if duflicicnt entries bo made, the following Prizes wil be competed for : — ■ Pibroch Throwing Heavy Stone, 22 lbs. „ Light Stone, 10 lbs. „ Heavy Hammer, 22 lbs. „ Light Hammer, 12 lbs. Tossing Caber Reel Dancing Ghillie Callum Best Dressed Highlander High Leap Standing Leap Hop-Stcp-and Jump Long Race, 800 yards Short Race, 140 yards Quoits. The value of the several prizes cannot yet be positively stated, but the entry-money is proposed not to exceed ss. in any one case. The annual member subscription is 205.; life membership, £10; and those willing to assist the objects of the Society will be good enough to pay their subscriptions or donations to Bank of New South Wales, or to D. M' Arthur, of Invercargill, Esquire, Treasurer of the Society. Tne names of intending Competitors will be received by the Secretary up to 11 o'clock of the day of competition ; but to avoid confusion, and that the necessary arrangements for. the several Games may be afc once gone into, it is particularly requested thafc those who intend competing will enter their names as early as possible.
