THE INVERCABGILL AND BLUFF ROAD
Strangers travelling to and from Invercargill and Bluff Harbour, if on horseback, will find that the distance between the above places (20 miles) may be travelled both with speed and comfort by leaving 1 Invercargill at half-ebb, and the Bluff at low water. Travellers on foot to leave the former place at first of the ebb, and the latter at last quarter ebb, bearing in mind that a westerly or d.VV. gale will cause a seven hours' flood, leaving but five hours' ebb, so that it will be necessary to get under way accordingly. The above distance is generally covered by horsemen in from 2fc to 3 koftro, todos foot is from 4£ to 0 fcoiatf.
