Ireland, and Mr. Wood.
Whereas by an act passed in the se.vv.nteenth year -of the reign of Her Majesty Queen* Victoria, intituled "An Act to amend the Law relating to Post-offices,'' it is amongst other tilings enacted, that it shall be lawful for 'His Excellency the Governor, with the adiiceot the ' Executive Council, to make arrangements with the constituted authorities in separated colonies for the transmission, through the medium of the -post-office, of money between. any separate colony and Victoria by order or Otherwise, and for the delivery and payment of the same, the accounting for all money •which shall be due and owing to any colony on account of such arrangements for the transmission of any balance thereon ;to malt e such rales and regulations, to »lefray such discounts and exchanges, as may Tie necessary; and to establish such rates of payment as seem fit in such behalf resp; ctively : And whereas by an act passed iti the twen y first year of Ihe reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, intituled "An act to enable the Postmaster General to issue Money Orders in t lie Colony of Victoria," it is further, amongst other things, enacted, that it shall be lawful for tl>e Governor in Council, from time to time, to make such regulations as shall be needed relating to money orders; and to the persons oy or through whom, and to the restrictions as to number and amount under which money orders shall be issued ; and to the places where all money orders issued shall be payable ; and to the length of time during which money orders shall be current, and after which they shall become void ; and to the managing of credits, accounts, and other matters and things necessary to be forwarded, transmitted, or managed in reference to money orders; and relating to every other matter or thing necessary to' be regulated or done for perfecting a system whereby the public may be enabied promptly and safely to remit small sums of money lo all parls through the postoffice : now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by and with the advice of the Executive Co ineil, doth by this present order direct, that on and after th.?. Ist day of November now next ensuing money orders may and shall be issued at all the post-offices in the colony of Victoria to which the money order system is now or may hereafter be extended, or such postoffices in New Zealand as the PostmasterGeneral of Auckland shall from time to time notify as post-offices at which money oiders can be made payable. That tie mioirit of rremium to he charged on all money orders issued in the colony of Victoria on New Zealand, shall be as follows :— . ....
For any* sum not exceeding Ls— Oae shilling Di i to above L5, and not exceeding LlO — Two shillings. That tho largest amount for which any money order shall be issued in Victoria ou New Zealand bhall be (L 10) Ten pounds.
