NODES AI?D COMMENTS. - ,

The four principal racing fixtures for Easter are Wairarapa (March 30tby April Ist), Feilding (March 30th, April Ist), Auckland (M'arch 30th, April Ist), Canterbury (April Ist and 2nd).

The two most convenie'nt meetings for local, sports to attend are Feii'ding and Wairarapa. It is apparent the Chokebore stable has unearthed another speedy galloper (to take the place of Childsplay in the Acre filly Disorder. She showed marked grit in finishing on so well from a bad position in the Plunket Nursery Handicap at Trentham to dead-heat with Eaglet. Had she won outright she would have returned her investors ■well over a quarter of a century. Tresbam proved at Trentham on the second day that he likes a longer distance than nine furlongs, by securing third berth, after a bad passage in the Autumn Handicap of eleven furlongs. Although, he finished fifth in the Prince of Wales Handicap, he appeared to be catching the field at the end of the nine. He is sure to place his name on the winning list before long. ' ‘ t It is understood that the three-year-old, Perception, will be sent back to Sydney shortly. He is s at present spelling at J. T. Jamieson's place at Talcanini.

Pale .Star is being tried over the, country and, although he has little idea of landing and getting, away, he jumps safely and may, with the necessary experience, rectify his now serious faults.

Nightmarch has lost' a certain amount of his prestige by his defeats at Trentham and Manawatu. There was no excuse for him at Awapuni, as far as the race was concerned, and his failure can be put down to inability to stay. However, he will have-his opportunity -to make amends in the Croat Autumn Handicap at the C.J.C. meeting on Monday and racegoers at this meeting should see an improved gelding. The mile and a half will suit him.

Warzone, a three-year-old filly by Bisogne was sufficiently well in the Autumn Plate at Awapuni when she ran third to suggest that a good hack race will come her Way before long. Warzone is in the weights for Feilding. If she accepts she is worth eyeing. ' ■

Polyxena stayed, on well in the Produce Stakes at Awapuni. Her first trial over six furlongs was in the Pacific Handicap at Trentham, she having always been tried over five. Her first appearance in a seven furlong race —the Produce Stakes—-showed her to be a smart galloper for she was so On in front and was only beaten by that great filly Gay Ballerina. Polyxena showed us in this race that she is going to be more than a useful sort. Vallar who is engaged in the Easter Handicap at Auckland next Saturday is in excellent order juist now. He is sure to be one of the prime fancies for the race. He has been a model of consistency this season and although his best performance was a second to Paganelli in a sprint event at the. Christmas meeting at Ellerslie, it has been the striking manner in which he has wton his races that impresses. He is such a brilliant beginner .that all his victories have been gained from end to end and that is where he may shine nejfit Saturday. Out from the barrier with the minimum he is going to take some catching. This will be his first journey over a mile, his connections having always kept him at seven furlongs. Remember him on Saturday.
