SHANNON METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL.
SOCIAL EVENING. I A. very pleasant social evening was held in the school room on Wednesday evening last. The evening being a fine one, the room was taxed to its utmost, there being a number of parents and friends besides a/ great number of child.' :n present. The programme was Highly appreciated, the talent being supplied by the scholars and also several items by adults. It opened with a pianoforte solo by Miss Mona Ingley; Recitation, Doris Tremewan; Song, Clifford Watkins; Violin Solo, Mr Bell; Dialogue, “The Witch’s Garden” by Junior Scholars; recitation, Nancy Dorset; song, Norman Riches; Violin Solo, Mr H. Boyle; Recitation, Edna Hill; Song, Mr A.Stevens; Mandolin Solo, Mr V Gardner; Dialogue, Misses E. an 1 E. Swindlehurst; Song, Mrs Riches; Recitation, Trevor Ingley; Dialogue, “Breach of Promise,” Senior Scholars; recitation, Doris Tremewan; Song, Clifford Watkins; Nigger Minstrel Troupe, comic, operatic songs and jokes, Miss-ess Mona Ingley and Eva. Qu-arrie, Mr Ewan Barber and J. Ritchies. At the conclusion of the programme supper was handed round. A collection of £2 10s, was taken up to alignment' the Sunday School funds.
The superintendent, Mr- Gibson, made an .appropriate speech in which he laid stress upon the fact that social evenings brought into close contact the parents, friends and scholars, and all those interested in school work. He said thanks was due to Miss S. Quarrie for hefr untiring work in training the scholars.
The teachens of the Sunday School desire to thank all those ’ who so kindly helped to make the evening such a success.
