local body had security of tenure of office and although the present bodies worked well together there was no security that it would always be so, so that, it was necessary to have security of tenure. He moved that ths. Council accept the offer made by the Borough Council provided that a lease of 21 years could be arranged. Cr. Rydei' seconded. Cr. Broadbelt supported the motion. The business of the Council was too congested at present and the staff could not be expected to do their best under such circumstances. Other councillors also spoke in favour of the motion, which was carrier l unanimously. On the suggestion of Cr. Broadbelt a committee consistingof the chairman, engineer, the County clerk, Cr. Harkness, and himself were* appointed to go into the matter with: the Borough Council. ■a————— ,
