BEAUTIFYING THE TOWN.

WORK TO BE DONE NEAR THE STATION. The . mat ter of beautifying the plot of ground between the station gates was mentioned by Cr. Hyde at a special meeting of the Borough Council on Tuesday evening. He stated that a start with the work, plans for which had already been arranged, had been delayed too long, and it was high time that the whole job was put in. hand and completed as expeditiously as possible. The Mayor proposed that the plot be ploughed at once.

Cr. Hyde said fhe whole job should be gone on with. It was no use just ploughing the area and then leaving it.

The Mayor said the whole job could not be done at once. It could be fenced later. Once fhe area had been ploughed and fenced the Council could then consider what it should do next. This was agreed to. “Get on with it,” said the Mayor in conclusion. “The man who can do something himself is the best man

f » this Council.” right,” said. Cr. Hyde, “you’ll r nP there in a day or two with teams of 6oraes and a couple ot ploughs.’ 5 _
