HOROWHENUA CRICKET ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Horowlienua Cricket Association was held on Wednesday evening in,, Mr Williams’ tearooms, Levin, and there were representative delegates present froih Shannon, Whitanm and Levin. In his report to the Association, the hon. secretary, Mr Keys, said: “The season 1920-2 F was undoubtedly one of the most- successful in the annals of cricket In this district. The clubs entered for the senior competition, and played practically up to the last match. Y.M.C.A. came out victorious in the competition, with Shannon as runners-up. / Two representative matches- were played during the sea ...on, both against Manawatu, one at Levin and one at Palmerston North, Horowhenua winning one, and Manawatu one. The Association considers, it rather to be regretted that Manawatu did not send a more representative team to play against it at Levin.’ The following pfficers were appointed for the season: Patron: Mr W. H. Field, M.P.; president, Mr H. Hook, Shannon; vice-presidents, Messrs. .M. Loughnan, A. L. Seifert, A. Dhinie, F. S. Easton, J. Cameron, J. Bebbington, M. Suhan, Dr. Gow, F. Seifert, K. Adams, W. S. Park, H. Martin and H. McMillan. The hon. secretary, Mr Keys, stated that owing to pressure of business and lack of- time he would, though very reluctantly, be compelled t 6 relinquish the position he was holding in the Association, and so tendered his resignation. The delegates present expressed their regret at losing •Mr lSeys as secretary, and. a hearty vote of thanks . and appreciation was Recorded him for his past services. Mr A. J-I. Morgan, of Shannon, was appointed hon. secretary. The matter (Si a quorum for Association meetings was discussed, and the previous arrangenrents will stand for this season, one delegate ironr each club, or a substitute. Cup matches will start on Saturday, November 19, and all entries for the competition must be in the hands oi the secretary noon, November 9, or may he 'presented in person to the secretary at 8 p.m., November 9, at Williams’ tearooms, Levin, when delegates will meet to draw up fixtures. It • Was decided that in all cup matches a win shall’ .count as two pbints, and a, draw one point, irrespective of whether a team shall win by an innings or not. Matches are to start at 2 pun., and in the event of unforeseen circumstances arising, half an hour’s grace will be allowed. In the matches between clubs south of Manakau and north of Levin, the teams will meet on Levin grounds. Stumps will be drawn at. the same time as last season. Affiliation fees to the Association will he one guinea for each club. It was pleasing to note that the balance-sheet for the year’s working showed a credit of £3 .16s 6d, and with new clubs joining and enthusiasm being revived in older ones, there appears to be brighter days ahead for this Association. Should the Association succeed in affiliating with Manawatu as a sub-association, as it was decided to do pending, of course, the decision of Manawatu upon the matter, many more interesting games will eventuate, and greater incentive given to., developing cricketers-to improve ilieir play. •
A motion of thanks to Mr Williams for the use of his rooms for the meeting was carried by acclamation.
