NEW BISHOP. Received 0;50 a.m., July 20th. The Rev. Gerard Trower, Rector of Christ Church, Sydney, has been appointed Bishop of Likoma, Central Africa. TRADE WITH SOUTH AFRICA. Lieutenant-Colonel Mackay, who has just retruned from the Cape, says that it is worth the while of any State, or Australia as a whole, to send a competent commercial agent to South Africa to develop trade. A STAMPS QUESTION. MELBOURNE, July 19. A Bill has been introduced in the State House suppressing the use of trading stamps and coupons, and providing for the issue of discount stamps. SHIPPING AND LEGISLATION. Owing to the strong protest of the shipping conqnmies against the clauses in the Inter-State Bill seeking to interfere with rates of freight, Sir W. Lyne will probably excise or modify the clauses. AGENCY-GENERAL. ADELAIDE, July 19. In the Assembly members displayed anxiety to see the paper which had been tabled dealing with the displacement of Sir A. Cockburn and the appointment of Mr Grainger to the Agency-General. A LOAN BILL. PERTH, July 19. The Government have brought down an amended schedule to the Loan Bill totalling £2,197,000. There was much wrangling, and several large items were replaced, bringing the amount to over three millions.
