IN BANKRUPTCY.

A meeting of creditors of William Johnson. of Waitohi, labourer, was held itt the Arcade offices, to-day. There were present the Deputy Assignee, Mr Montgomery, the bankrupt and bis solicitor, Mr W. G. Aspioull, and Mr - W. Mendelson.

The statements showed unsecured creditors £B2 9s; mured creditors £SB, less estimated value of security £6O, surplus to contra £2. Furniture was valued at £2O, and surplus from securities £2; deficiency, £BO 19s.

Secured creditor. —W. Mendelson, solicitor, limaru, £6O, mortgage on half an acre of land at Waitohi.

The bankrupt in bis sworn statement said that he had been living at Waitohi for over 20 years, working as a labourer: He attributed his difficulties to bad crops some four years ago. Owing to employment being scarce in the district he had to go elsewhere, at considerable expense, and debts were -contracted. Several old debts had been paid off during (he last two years, and very few new ones incurred. The immediate danse of his deciding to lid: was illness in his family, and one of lib unsecured creditors taking an execution against him. Could make no offer to his creditors.

No proved creditor having attended, the meeting was adjourned sine die.
