CHRISTCHURCH, March 21,
A meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council was held this morning. Mr Tapper reported that the Tasmanian Associa tion had been unable to send a team to New Zealand, and in view of the small amount of interest taken, he did not think it advisable to have a North v. South Island match this season. He had written ta the secretaries of the Marylebone Club and of the Melbourne Club, regarding the visit of the Marylebone team to New Zealand. The team was going to play matches only in Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide, and the quest’on would be the guarantee for New Zealand. After some discussion, the secretary was instructed to write to the New Zealand Associations, asking if they would be prepared to guarantee a minimum of £2OO each for a visit of the Marylebone team.
