TEMUKA.—TUESDAY, JANUARY 22, 1901.

A prohibition order was granted against a resident with his own consent, the order to apply to the Geraldine and Timaru Licensing Districts. A similar order was made in respect of an elderly woman w-ho has lately been granted an old age pension. His Worship requested the constable to direct the woman’s attention to the fact that she is liable to lose her pension if she indulges in intemperate habits. Albert Hoskins was charged with furious driving a horse through the main street on the evening of the 17th. He was fined 10s and costs. Hoskins was also charged with being drunk whilst in charge of a horse and trap, and was fined 40s and costs. J. Iviss v. H. Kaku, claim 9s. Mr T. Cheyne Farnie for plaintiff. Judgment by default for amount claimed and costs. Same v. chairman and directors of the Geraldine Saleyards Company. Mr Farnie for plaintiff. The claim was for advertising a meeting of directors and the proprietors of the Geraldine Saleyards Company, claim £1 2s 6d.
Mr G. J. Wreathall, secretary for the company, said that the plaintiff had no authority to insert the advertisement. Mr iShiers, one of the directors, was to have been present to support the defence. The case was adjourned to next sitting of the Court at Geraldine. (Later on the case was withdrawn by consent.) Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following cases :—J. Ivess v. W. Botherway, claim 19s 6dj same v. Gregan. claim 17s 6d. H. Wise and Co. v. James Hart, claim £l. Judgment summons.—There was no appearance of plaintiff. His Worship strongly advised defendant to pay the money. As the plaintiff had not appeared the case would be struck out.
