“Cromwell Argus,” October 20th, 1891, says;—“Messrs Gawne and Co. have favoured us with samples of their Worcestershire Sauce. As to the sauce, one of many Worcesters in the field, we may say that its flavour is as good as its piquancy is pronounced. Altogether a well-balanced relish, which is supplied to the public at a price that no Worcester of equal merit has hitherto been sold.—Advt. General McArthur, in a despatch from Manila, states that Captain McQuiston, who. had become temporarily insane, shot a number of the men of his company. The others, in self-defence, shot and killed the captain. The pui'ost spiKit obtainable. Is fuec from puscl Oil and other poisonous ingredients. To be obtained at all hotels in large and enajall bottles. Mr M. G- Mulhall says there is no reason to fear overcrowding on this globe for many centuries. The area of the Unilea States, excluding Alaska, is just 3,000,000 square miles; the average density of the New England States is 71 inhabitants to the square mile, so that it may be said that the Union could easily support 210,000,000, or three times its present population. Meantime, other vast fields are opening to invite immigrants. Canada, Brazil, Spanish America, and Australia are each of them larger than the United States. Each of them could find room fm 200,000,000 settlers. AUTHENTIC MEDICAL OPINIONS WORTH KNOWING.—Dr Osborne says“l use SANDER AND SONS EUCALYPTI EXTRACT as spray for nasal catarrh, low fever, asthma, etc., with great success. See that you get SANDER AND SONS’, and reject spurious preparations, which are sometimes supplied by un' scrupulous dealers.—fAdvt.j A meeting of subscribers to the Waimate Library was held on Wednesday last. The president, Mr Hamilton, occupied the chair, and nearly thirty gentlemen were present. The chairman said that the meeting had been called by the committee to have the matter of the selection of a site for the new library buildings considered, and as to the disposal of the site of the old buildings lately destroyed by fire in street. Dr Barclay, the Mayor, said, in ’ reference to the selection of a site, that there was a project about to be submitted to a ratepayers’ meeting of the borough for the erection of a Town Hall with rooms suitable for a library and other societies’ requirements, and he wished subscribers to the library not to select any site until the decision of the ratepayers be known, as he considered that it would be advantageous to the library in many ways to have the necessary rooms under the same roof as the Town Hall and committee rooms. He produced the architect’s plan and estimate for the buildings. There was a great variety of opinions on this matter and much discussion. After a number of motions and amendments had been negatived it was resolved : “ That the Library Committee consider the offer of a site on Victoria Terrace at a nominal rent for 99 years, on which to erect a building suitable for the purpose of a library as nearly as possible within the means at the committee’s disposal.” The meeting then adjourned till to-day.

Terrible Feelings. Loss of Sleep. Impurities often accumulate in the blood until they produce the most dangerous symptoms of poisoning. The appetite is lost, digestion weakened, and nerves exhausted. Mrs. F. Flynn, of Adelaide, So. Australia, sends us her photograph and says: r\ & s rfl “I used to have terrible feelings come over me. The doctors could do me no good. I could notsleep, my appetite left me, and I was a most miserable woman indeed. Having read of I thought I would try it. After taking six bottles all ray disagreeable feelings left me, and I was completely cured.” If your bowels are constipated, take Ayer’s Pills. They are gentle and sure.
