The Rifle Association.
. ♦ Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, November 29. Lieutenant-Colonel Somerville, who returned from South Africa yesterday, this morning was requested to take in hand the arrangements for the holding of the meeting of the Rifle Association next year. The Colonel expects to" hold the meeting during March. The authorities favour the newly acquired range at Trentham, and if this place should be chosen the Government will connect the ground with the railway from Silver Stream. The .303 rifle will be used, and Colonel Somerville is now at work pre- . paring the programme, which will be issued shortly. It will be practically the programme which had to be dropped this year, but the prize-money will be larger. A number of marksmen who went with the Contingents to South Africa are expected to take part in the meeting, which most probably will be at Wanganui. After this, it will always be held at Trentham.
