Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, November 29. The Volunteer Regulations prescribing the strength of Bearer Corps have been amended, making the maximum strength of the Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin corps three officers and 60 men, and the minimum two officers and 25 men. For the Nelson corps the maximum and minimum will be two officers and 25 men. The appointment of Mr F. R. Flatman as a member of: the Otago and Southland Rivers Commission is gazetted. Major B. H. Owen is gazetted as Commandant, of the Military School of Instruction for the New Zealand 1 Defence Forces. The resignation is gazetted of Colonel F. J. Fox, New Zealand Militia, and Surgeon Captain P. W. Hislop, of the Volun- — teer medical staff. , . ' The services of the following corps have been accepted :—Whangarei, Rotorua, Kawakawa, Denniston, Waihi and Otamaka Rifles, and Tauranga, Waiuku, Raglan, Hokianga and Mongonui. Mounted Rifles, the acceptances all dating from September 10th. During the week letters of naturalisation have been issued, to thirteen persons residing in the colony. The Inspection of Machinery Act Amendment Act of last session is being brought into force, and regulations for the examinations for engine-drivers’ certificates axe gazetted. , ... The following Government holidays are to be observed for Christmas and New Year:— Monday 24th, Tuesday 25th, Wednesday 26th; Monday 31st December and Tuesday January Ist. 1 .
