GERALDINE LIVE STOCK SALE,

There was a good attendance at the Geraldine live stock sale yesterday, when about 4000 sheep, 35 head of cattle, and 15 pigs ■were in. The sale was a good one right through, almost every line changing hands at auction. Shorn hoggets brought 11s 9d, 13s 9d, 14s 3d, and 15s; hoggets in the wool, 16s Id to 16s 8d; three-quarter-bred hoggets, 14s Id; ewes with lambs at. foot, all counted, 9s, 10s 4d, 10s 6d, 10s lOd, 12s 2d; merino wethers, 12s Id; fat ewes, shorn, 13s 3d, 14s 4d, and 14s 9d; fat wethers, shorn, 15s 6d; 4 and 6-tooth wethers, 16s Id to 17s Id; fat ewes, 16s 6d; dry ewes, 13s sd; merino ewes with lambs at foot, 6s 9d to 7s. Cattle.—Cow in full profit, £5 2s 6d; fat cow, £7 10s; heifer, empty, £6 2s 6d; steers, £2 3s; yearlings, £1 5s to £2 4s 6d; fat heifers, £8 ss; dry cow, £1 17s 6d. Pigs.—Weaners, 6s to 10s 3d. Potatoes, a sack. CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. Per Press Association. • CHRISTCHURCH, November 28. The entries at Addington were 1500 fat sheep, 350 fat lambs, 4500 store sheep, 323 cattle, and 339 pigs. The fat cattle numbered 177 head. With the exception of show bullocks, and two steers from Palmerston North, the entry was mostly cows and heifers. The market was irregular, with a slight decline. Prime beef fetched 21s to 23s 6d, other ’lSs to 20s per lOOlbs., show bullocks £l3 5s to £l3 10s, do. steers £lO to £ll Ss, local steers £7 15s to.£9 6s, heifers £5 10s to £8 17s 6d, cows £4 15s to £8 15s. Sheep. —There was a small supply of fat sheep, mostly shorn, and not many of good quality. The market was in the hands of the local butchers, and was irregular with a slight decline, except for prime lots. Woolly wethers wethers fetched 18s 8d to 22s 9d, shorn do. 16s to 20s 6d, woolly ewes 16s to 21s, shorn do. 22s to 18s Id. The fat lambs included some good quality. There was good competition at prices ranging from 13s to 16s Id. Store sheep sold well. Woolly wethers 17s Id to 17s sd, shorn 14s 9d to 14s lid,’ woolly hoggets 14s to 16s 9d, woolly ewes with lambs (all counted) 7s 5d to 9s 3d for aged, and 11s 4d to 12s 7d for good, good shorn do. 10s 7d to 10? Bd. Pigs.—There was a moderate yarding of pigs, and a good sale with improvement for baconers, which brought 31s to 455, averaging 3£d per lb, porkers 21s to 30s, equal to 3jd to 4d, stores 13s to 17s 6d, suckers and weaners 5s to 11s. DUNEDIN MARKETS. DUNEDIN, November 28. Cattle. —A hundred and eighty head of fat cattle were yarded, mostly of medium quality. The sale was irregular, and if anything in favour of the trade. Prime bullocks brought £lO to £ll 17s 6d, ordinary £8 10s to £9 15s, small £7 to £B, prime cows and heifers £7 to £8 10s, ordinary £5 to £6 10s, old £2 to £4 10s. Sheep.—2lß2 fab sheep were penned, about two-thirds being in wool. Shorn were mostly of prime quality, while those in wool were barely passable as mutton. Prime sheep suitable for export were eagerly competed for. The range of values was about the same as last week. Some small pens of very prime and -extremely heavy weights brought 22s 6d to 26s 6d, prime crossbred wethers in wool 19s to 225, shorn 17s to 18s, ordinary in wool 17s 6d to 19s, shorn 16s to 16s 9d, light in wool 16s to 17s, shorn 14s to 15s 6d, prime ewes in wool 19s to 20s, good 17s 6d to 18s 6d, light 16s to 17s, shorn ewes 14s to 17s. Four hundred and Seventy fat lambs were penned. It was a dull sale, prices ranging from 8s to 12s. Pigs _Two hundred and fifty pigs were penned, and sold well without change of prices. Suckers fetched 6s to 10s, slips 11s 6d to 15s, stores 16s to 20s 6d, porkers 21s to 295, baconers 30s to 365. Wheat.—The market has been somewhat dull, and sales have been difficult to effect. Millers having large stocks in hand are indifferent purchasers. Prime milling is quoted at 2s 6d to 2s 7d, medium 2s 3d to 2s 4d, chick wheat Is lid to 2s Id ; sacks in. Oats.—The market has been very active, and a large quantity has changed hands at an advance of J;d to Id per bushel. Prime milling Is to Is 7Jd, prime feed Is 6d to Is 6JA, medium Is 5d to Is sid, inferior Is to Is 3d ; bags extra. Barley.—The market is lifeless, and practically no sales are passing.
