Wedding at Temuka.

A fashionable wedding took place at St. Peter’s Church, Temuka, yesterday, when Miss Mendelson, eldest daughter of the late Mr Julius Mendelson, who did so much to advance the interests of the district, was united to Mr W. R. McLaren, manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company’s branch at Timaru. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. T. Farley, vicar of the parish. The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion, and Mrs Farley presided at the organ. The bride’s dress was of white satin, trimmed with real Honiton lace. She wore a wreath of orange blossom and veil, and carried a lovely shower bouquet. The bridesmaids were Misses Lena, Alice and Ethel Mendelson, sisters of the bride, Miss McLaren, sister of the bridegroom, and the Misses Davis, two young friends from Dunedin, nieces of the bridegroom. They wore charming dresses of white chiffon, trimmed with white satin baby ribbon and hats of white tucked chiffon and white feathers. Each carried pretty bouquets, and with the bride wore valuable jewellery, gifts from the bridegroom. The best man was Mr W. Mendelson, brother of the bride, who was given away by Mr E. Cutten, her stepfather. Mrs Gutten wore a charming costume of dove coloured satin, with a tucked silk bodice and grey toque. The church was crowded, not only with the wedding guests, but of many residents who desired to witness the nuptial ceremonies of a lady who is much respected in the district. After the ceremony the bride held a reception at her mother’s residence, Sadowa, and afterwards drove to Winchester en route for Christchurch. From thence, the happy pair proceed to Australia, where they will spend the honeymoon. The guests were entertained at dinner in the evening, and at a ball at night. The wedding presents wei e most numerous and valuable, and numbered tokens from all parts of the colony, and from friends at Home.
