Tations attempts to produce mi oxygen water were unsuccessful, says Dr Wender in the Zeitschrift fur die gesamte Kolilensaure Industrie, because oxygen alone does not impart to water that agreeable taste which is essential in a beverage that is t obecome popular. Now the Sauerstoff Tabrik at Berlin, has succeeded in pro•ducin..’ with the aid of carbonic acid a ■compound water which possesses not only the pleasant taste of acidulous water, but ulso a high therapeutic value, owing to the ■oxygen it contains. The preparation of -this oxygenated water un ells T for any manufacturer of mineral waters. It is based upon the fact that a portion -f tbs carbonic acid may be crowded out siy oxygen. The product is prepared by impregnating tlio water mixed with first with oxygen at 4 atmospheres, then with oxygen up to Q atmospheres, and drawing off at 6 atmospheres. The water 5s perfectly clear, and possesses a very agreeable, refreshing, and yet mild taste. The additional cost is very slight, ocmg hardly 10 pfennigs ((22' 2 cents) for 5/0 bottles.. The oxygen necessary for preparing the water is sold in a compressed state in steel bottles, Tike liquid carbonic acid, so that any apparatus may be used at once for preparing this water Without I* -'-ation.
