Fifty women and children who were found baking Boers’ bread at Thabancbu, were conveyed to Bloemfontein. Mack, a German American, was sentenced to death on a charge of trying to seduce a soldier from his allegiance. Lord Roberts commuted the sentence to imprisonment in Ceylon until all the other Boer prisoners are expatriated.

STRATFORD, November 27.

Trooper Montgomerie arrived here last night. He was driven from Eltham by the Mayor and an escort of Mounted Rifles, and formally welcomed home by the Mayor from the steps of the post office. There was a great croud, and he was given a most ennthusiastic reception, bands being in attendance.
