WOOL AND SKIN SALE. The first sale of wool and skins held for over a month past, the Christchurch, carnival necessitating a postponement,■» took place yesterday. The catalogues submitted were very large, each firm having close on 1500 skins with a proportionate large quantity of wool to come under the hammer. The sales were well attended, and fully showed that late prices were firm and well maintained, though there was no appreciable rise. In wool, the tone of the market was a trifle firmer than of late, and the first wool sale at Christchurch is looked forward to to-day to show in which direction the indicator will go. A few lambskins sold at Is Id each, and pelts at 9d. GERALDINE SALE. There was a good attendance at the Geraldine farmers’ yards yesterday, and a fair entry of live stock. Fat sheep brought up to 235. Yearlings sold for 33s 6d, steers £5 12s 6d. There were about 20 or 30 head of cattle in.
