A SHUNTER MANGLED

INVERCARGILL, November 21. To-night, after 9 o’clock, a shunter named William Blay, while at work in the station yard here, was run down by a carriage and terribly mangled, dying a few minutes after. It is not known whether he fell in front of the moving carriage or

was' knocked down, the night being dark

and boisterous. Deceased was married, I and leaves a widow and one daughter. He ' had been here about four years, and as a member of the City Band took part in the flag unfurling at the South School in the forenoon.
