DISTRESSING COACH ACCIDENT.
ONE PERSON KILLED. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, April 17. As the coach from Alexandra was coming down Allen’s Hill, six miles from Roxburgh, last night, the axle broke and the coach turned over. The kingbolt came out,and the horses bolted with the forecarriage, dragging the driver (Adam McDonald) for 100 yards, but he escaped unhurt. The passengers on the box were Messrs P. G. Neill, Harman, Reeves, H. S. Fenwick, and H. R. Law. They are all well known in mining circles in Dunedin. Neill was crushed under the coach and his neck broken. Mr W. Absolora Smith, of Dunedin, who was an inside passenger, had an arm broken and his back hurt. The others, including ten inside passengers, were, much shaken but not seriouslv hurt. Two of the horses were killed, 'The injured passengers were brought into Roxburgh.
