THE TIMAEU WOOL SALES.
The second wool sale of the season was held yesterday in the Theatre Royal. In con sequence of the large number of bales included in the catalogues, and buyers having to leave by the express to attend the Invercargill sales, a start was made at 7 a.m. There was a full muster of buyers, and biddings were fairly spirited. Half and crossbred wools were decidedly easier than at the December sale, and as vendors’ re ervesfor these sorts were above prices offering, a good quantity was passed in. There was very keen bidding.for all merino wool offered, and_ this . class may be considered as quite lugher thin at last stile. Scouring wools—pieces, ■, bellies and, locks, sold very well. The follow- ’ ing catalogues were submitted: — Bales. Canterbury Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association ... ... 2286 Guinness and LeCren ... • ... 1940 N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Co. 1525 National Mortgage and Agency , Co. ... ... 1017 Total 6768 Halfbred sold up to 12Id, crossbred to 10Jd, three-quarter-bred to 9fd, merino to 13td, scoured to 18d, merino pieces to 10id, merino , bellies to 9d, locks to 4d. . The catalogue was the next largest that had ever been offered here. The largest was at the first sale in , 1894, when over 7200 bales were offered.
