SERIOUS FIRE AT CLINTON.
STATION AND POST OFFICE DESTROYED.

DUNEDIN, January 6.
A fire originated in the Post Office Clinton last night at 11.30 and spreading to the railway station along side and Geddes refreshment rooms,the three buildings were burned to the ground. Geddes succeeded .in getting the best part of his furniture out, but nothing was saved from the Post Office or the railway station. All local mails in] the post office were destroyed, but 12 bags which arrived by night trains were saved. Clinton is shut off from telegraphic communication meantime. The insurances on Geddes* property were Standard £6OO on building (reinsured in the Naiional and Norwich Union, and Australian Alliance), and £2OO on the furniture.
