i>TTNEPPJ, Apgpst p. CATTkE. 222 head of fat cattle were yarded, of which a small portion only were prune beef, the balance being composed of medium to inferior quality bullocks and heifers. Owing to the small supply last week butchers were bare of supplies, and consequently bid freely, and the advance recorded last week was hilly maintained. Best bullocks sold at £7 16s to £9, medium weights £6 10s to £7 10s, light and inferior £4 to £5 10s, best cows and heifers £5 15s to £6 10s, medium £5 to £slos, light and -inferior £3 10s to £4 ss. SHEEP. 2738 fat sheep were yarded, of which the greater number were wethers. Although a few pens of extra heavy wethers were offered, the sheep as a whole were much inferior in quality to last week’s yarding. The demand was brisk, butchers and freezing buyers operating freely. Last week’s rates were 'readily obtained and in some cases ex£*tra heavyweight wetheta

sold at 18s 9J to 20s 3d, freezing wethers 14a 6d to 17s, medium 12s 6d to 14s, merinos and light weights 9s 9d to 12s, best ewes 14 1 . medium 12s 6d to 13s 6d, light and inferior 10s to lls 6d. Only two or three pens of fat lambs were yarded, and those of fair quality brought from lls to 12s. PIGS. 115 pigs were yarded. There was a good demand for all classes at the following range of prices—Suckers lls to 17s 6d, slips 19s to 235, stores 25s to 30s, porkers 25s to 425, light baconers 44s to 525. GRAIN. Wheat.—There is no change to report, except that tuscan is receiving a little more attention. Quotations are—Prime milling 2s 5d to 2s 6£d, medium 2s 3d to 2s 4d, fowl feed, fair inquiry, up to 2s. Oats.—Dullness continues to prevail in the demand from outside parts, and the market is at the moment almost stagnant, prospects ahead not looking very bright. Prime milling is quoted at up to Is sd, best feed Is 3£d to Is 4d, medium and inferior Is Id to Is 3d.
