A most enjoyable social and dance were held by the young people of Fairview in the schoolroom, which was very tastefully decorated. . The social was very largely attended, in fact the room was uncomfortably crowded. The night was fine and the audience was composed of visitors from all, round the district. Although there were some absentees, the programme proved sufficiently long, as encores were frequent and hearty. Songs were rendered by Messrs Duncan McPherson (encored), J. Ivey (encored), W. : Cartwright (encored), Hawkey, Thoreau, and Boyd (encored). Messrs MePhedran and D. Scott gave two capital recitations. Mr Bezzant danced an Irish jig in costume, and Mr Cartwright a clog dance. The instrumental portion, violin, flute and accordeon was in the hands of Messrs Cartwright, Ivey and Thoreau, and their playing was much appreciated. Refreshments were liberally supplied by the ladies of the district and were greatly enjoyed, Sander and Son’s Eucalypti Extract Advt. .
