LABOUR ITEMS.
Per Press Association
WELLINGTON, August 10,
The Builders’ Conference resumed tonight. The schedule of the Master and Apprentice Bill was passed with but liitle comment, it being agreed that there was little likelihood of apprentices being bound to dwell with masters so far as the building trade was concerned, The business done at previous sittings of the conference was revised. The following resolution was carried on the casting vote of the chairman—“ That in the opinion of this conference the Employers Liability Act, with the addition of a clause compelling all employers to insure their workmen, would answer all purposes, and therefore The Workers Compensation for Accidents Bill is not necessary.” It was unanimously resolved —“ That in the event of the Workers Compensation for Accidents Bill becoming law, this Conference is of opinion that a clause should be inserted to make it compulsory for every employer to insure all his men.” This practically concluded the business of the Conference.
