TENNIS.
The return match Timaru Terrace Club v. Waitohi Terrace Club was played on the court of the home club LeCren’s Terrace on Saturday. The weather was very suitable, and tile match was an enjoyable one all through. The play was interesting throughout, the games in which the young ladies took part being especially so, and calling for the most hearty applause. The match resulted in a win for Timaru. The visitors came in in the morning, and were entertained at lunch by the ladies belonging to the local club, and afternoon tea was also provided for all visitors. The following are details of the play (the Waitohi players are named first) : Singles— Miss Pearse 4, Miss E. Tennent 7; Miss Chapman 5, Miss Sotham 7 ; Feilden 7, P. Perry 9: Orr 9, Rutherford 3; Pearse 6, Revell 9; Mclntyre 2, Hargreaves 7 ; Halley 8, McLeod 9; Meredith 5, Tennent 7. Doubles-MiSses Pearse and Chapman 5, Misses Tennent and Sotham 7; Miss Pearse and Feilden 3, Miss Tennent and Perry 7; Miss Chapman and Orr 7, Miss Sotham and Revell 1; Feilden and Orr 7, Perry and Hargreaves 4 - ; W. Pearse and Mclntyre 6, Revell and Rutherford 7; Meredith and Halley 3, Tennent and McLeod 9.
