Road Board.

The regular monthly meeting was held on Wednesday evening. Present Messrs A. Frew, E Carr. .1. MeAulifl'e, and G. Judson. Mr A. Frew was voted to the Correspondence was read as follows From the Lund and Income Tax Department stating that rates for 1897-98, would be collected on the same valuation as last year. From the Receiver of Land Revenue covering schedule of thirds amounting to £4 7s 8d paid to the credit of the board. From the Chief Surveyor requesting information as to expenditure of thirds and fourths.—The clerk was directed to attend to this. From Mr J. Hay requesting that the name of Mrs Joanna MeCaskill be substituted fcr that of Mrs Margaret Siegert in respect of property described—Agreed

to. From the clerk, Tinwald Town Board, asking for a copy of the board’s by-laws. The board have none. The overseer reported (hat Mr Davis had taken over Mr Cain’s contract and started work. A small job had been completed in Murray street. A new plank was required in O’Hara’s bridge. —The report was adopted. It was decided to. at once sue for rates and rents overdue. Accounts to the amount of £lO lls lOd were passed for payment and the Board rose.
