CRICKET

A match will be played to-morrow between teams from the Woollen Factory and the Herald Office, on' the Zealandia ground, at 2.30. The following are the players : Woollen Factory Shiels, Whitton, Smith (2), Dalgleish. Lane, Lillico, Mathieson, Finnic, Christie, and Dickenson. The Herald Roper, Campbell, Cameron, Robertson, McGowan, Kerr, Hassell, Brown, Evans, Sullivan, Robins. Both teams have a win to their credit, so the present one ought to be all the more interesting.

The return match between the Timaru Main School and teachers and the High School was played on Wednesday on the Zealandia ground. The Hich School made 34 (Raymond 13, W. Howell 9). Walton took 6 for 11, and Montgomery 4 for 9. The Main School replied with 39 (Montgomery 10, H Tennent 7, Crawshaw 5). Gunn (5 for 20). and Howell (2 for 2), bowled well. The Main School thus won by 5 runs on the first innings A match was played yesterday between the High School and the Zealandia 2nd. and was won by the former by 7 wickets and 127 runs. The Zealandia on going to the wickets could only make 37 (Leggot 6, Blanchett 7, Shrimpton 8, not out). Gunn (4 for 15) and Wood (5 for 19) bowled very well). The High School replied with 164 for 3 wickets (Raymond, not out, 74, C. Kerr 42, V. Tennent 40, and Mayo 8, not out). Malcolmson took 2 wickets for 29, and D. Shaw 1 for 43. The following will play for the Saturday team of the Timaru Cricket Club to-morrow on the athletic grounds against a team of South Canterbury school teachers :—Dr Cox, Dr Reid, W. Raymond, O. A. Jefferson, R. C. Tennent, P, Sealey, C. Buchanan, G. P. Wood, 0. N. Macintosh, S. T. Wicksteed, L. O’Callaghan ; emergency—W. King.
