FOOBALL.

The Colonial Football Club opened their season yesterday afternoon on the Park grounds, when there was a good attendance of players and members of other clubs. Sides were chosen by the captain and vice-captain, and the Yen. Archdeacon Harper, patron of the club, opened the season by kicking off. Considering that it was the first game of the season some very good form was shown by both sides. The game resulted in a victory for the captain’s side by 9 to 6. Judging by the enthusiasm shown yesterday the club expects to be able to give a good account of themselves at the end of the season. Mr J. Helean kindly acted as referee in his usual efficient style.
