Road Board.
The Geraldine Road Board met on Tuesday and was attended by Messrs J. Kelland (chairman), J. M. Barker, K; Brophy, and J. Wharton. Mr Metcalf sent an apology. Two weeks’ extension of time was granted to the contractor for work at Crowe’s cutting, Hilton. Mr C. H. Tripp wrote re gorse requiring to be cleared at a property at Kangitata,—The Board’s notice to thoroughly grub and burn must be carried out, pressure having been brought to bear on the Board on this matter. From the same re names of owners of properties. - The Board adhered to former resolutions. The overseer was instructed to inspect a road at Waihi and call tenders for shingling; also to attend to culvert on Mr C. Jessop’s road, Te Moana, and to alteration of name on rate roll as applied for by Ellen Buckley. Messrs 3. W. Jones and G. J. Wreathall again wrote re the proposed road to their pro'perties at Kakahu.—The Board admitted that Mr Jones’ requests were now more reasonable than hitherto, but; they declined to consider the matter until satisfied in writing that the twoparties concerned were agreed as to the line of road.
Mr Wreathall applied fora substitution of name on rate roll.—Mr Munroe’s consent to be obtained. Three tenders were received for building a spring cart for the Board, but it was decided to makean offer to J. Crafer for a second-hand one which he had for sale, failing this to arrange with one of the builders. Mr E. Murphy waited ou the Board complaining that he was rated for 10 acres of land which he had nothing at all to do with.—The Board decided to see into the matter. A request from Mr A. H. Wilson Smith for a piece of-road leading to the river crossing near his house to be made, was granted. Mr J. O’Malley was appointed returning officer for the road district in place of Mr W. Shiers, and it was agreed that Mr O’Malley’s name be placed on the Town Board valuation roll arid county roll, to represent the Board’s property: The clerk was instructed to sue for outstanding rates. The overseer’s report ou works was read, and it was decided to take up Hawke’s bridge and substitute a ford.
