DARING HIGHWAY ROBBERY.

£723 STOLEN. Pbr Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Per Press Association. Perth, January 25. A daring highway robbery took place at Ooolgardie on Saturday. Mitchell and Pauli, manager and storekeeper respectively of the Burbank’s Consols and Burbank’s North Mines, drew a large sum from the bank to pay the men’s wages. Driving from town to the mines, three men armed with rifles suddenly surprised them and ordered them to bail up, at the same time firing several shots into the wheels of the buggy. Mitchell and Pauli surrendered and were gagged, bags being placed over .their heads, and were tied to a tree along with a third man, Houghton, who had appeared on the scene. The robbers decamped with £723 in notes. Houghton subsequently freed himself and reported the robbery. A large posse of police and civilians are tracking the robbers.
