The total number now in use in the colony is nearly 5000. RIFLE SHOOTING. At the National Rifle Meeting to-day both McGregor and Parsons were again prize-takers, the former taking the third prize in the Manning match, £B, and in fhe same contest Parsons won £3. At a meeting of riflemen it was decided to send a team to compete at Bisley next year, which is to be representative of all the colonies. The cost is estimated at about £l2O to £l5O per man. It is stated that a gentleman in Adelaide is willing to pay the cost of that colony’s representation • CYCLING. Don Walker, the cyclist, paced by a triplet, established a new record for Australasia over a quarter of a toiio,
which he traversed in 26 2-sth secs, thus lowering Kerr’s record of yesterday by 2-sths of a second.
