ADDINGTON MARKETS.
('Ey Telegraph.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 21. There was a good attendance at Addington market to-day, but-the entries as adrdle'wero hot-large. CATTLE. , . , • The yarding of fat cattle consisted of 136 head, -and with very few exceptions . the quality .-was' only average. The sale was without briskness, and rather dragged. Steers brought from £sfis to £8 7s 6d, heifers from £4 5s to £sl7s 6d, and up to £lO for one exceptional animal, cows, £3 12s 6d to £7. Baef again shows a per 1001 b, best realising from 18s to 19s 6d, and secondary .from 14s. In dairy cattle the sale was very dull,-prices ranging from £2 to £5 2s 6di : :In store cattle tlie;bulk of the business- was done privately, and sales at auction afford no criterion of values. Competition, however, was. irregular for freezing sheep where ewes -were included', and for naif: fat sheep. ; Butchers sheep sold well, as did Also merinos.. The sale was brisk and yaluea.were maintained.. Best lambs brought from 13s to 15s, and medium 10s store sheep there was rather * a small entry, including some small lines of shorn sheep. PIGS.. There was-a good yarding of pigs, and stores and porkers sold well, while baconers were slightly easier. Stores brought from 10s 3d to 255, porkers.. 20s to 27s,.heavy baconers 35s to 445, lighter do 28s to 355, choppers 45s to 47s 6d. BURNSIDE MARKETS. . DUNEDIN, October 21. "• CATTLE. 120 head of fat cattle were yarded. The demand was keen and prices were 15s per head higher. Best bullocks sold at £9 to £lO ss, good £7 10s to £8 10s, light steers £5 10s to £6los, best cows £6 7s 6d to £6 12s 6d, medium £5 to £5 15s. : SHEEP. 1486 fat sheep were penned. A number was taken up for freezing, and as this left scarcely sufficient for the butchers prices rose, fully 2s. per head, and in some instances, sheep turned out last week realised 3s to 4s above the prieS then offered. Heavy-weight crossbred wethers 18s to 19s 3d, medium 14s 9d to 17s, best crossbred ewes 16s 6d to 18s, medium 14a to 15s 6J, light weights lls to 13s 6d. . pigs. : , 105-pigs wereyarded.- Prices were in favour of sellers, except for porkers. Suckers sold at 7s to 10s, slips lls to 14s, stores 15s to 18s, porkers 21s to 25 s, baconers 27s to 30s. GRAIN. Wheat.—The demand is confined to good-conditioned fowl feed, which meets with.a demand at fair quotations. Prime milling :is - quoted at 3s 7d to = 3s 9d, medium 3s 4d ; to 3s 6d, fowl wheat 3s Id to 3s 3d; sacks in. Oats.—There is a steady demand for all good milling and shipping lines, and no difficulty is .experienced in selling all arrivals at quotations.
