The advance in the market is attributed to a shortage in the Russian crop, and to droughts in India and the Argentine Republic. Later. The advance in wheat has ceased. There is a pause in the excitement in Europe, and a small drop in England on red American wheat for future delivery. Nearly one million of gold was withdrawn for America yesterday. The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,280,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,480,000 quarters. Shares— National Bank of New Zealand, If; Bank of New Zealand 4 per cent, guaranteed stock, 105 ; Loan and Mercantile prior lien 4 per cent, debentures, 981. At the tallow sales 2175 casks were offered and 775 sold. Mutton, fine, brought 22s 3d ; medium, 19s -6d ; beef, 20s 6d. Silver is quoted at 2s 6id. Melbourne, October 22. The wheat market continues excited. Sales took place yesterday at 5s 3d, and 1500 bags were placed in the country at equal to 5s 6d.
