THE BANK OF NEW ZEALAND.
ANNUAL MEETING. (By Telegraph.) WELLINGTON, August 27. The annual meeting of the Bank of New Zealand takes place this afternoon. Contrary to the usual custom the President has refused to give advance copies of the balance sheet and his speech, which have hitherto been handed in in time for publication in the evening papers. In view of the Banking Enquiry, the business will probably be restricted to formal matters. At the general meeting of the Bank of New Zealand this afternoon, Messrs McCarthy and Kennedy were re-elected directors. The president said that the board were unanimously of opinion that the meeting should adjourn until l,he Parliamentary Banking Committees had reported, when the shareholders would be in a better position to discuss the affairs of the bank. He moved an adjournment until October 15tb. The motion was adopted and the meeting dispersed. No report or balance sheet was read.
