SUPPOSED LOSS OF A KETCH.

PARTY OF 20 MUTTON-BIRDERS OR BOARD. (By Telegraph.) INVERCARGILL, June 15. Anxiety is felt for the safety of a party of mutton-birders, consisting of about twenty men, women and children. Nearly a month ago, the ketch Cavalier left Riverton to take them off the southwest cape of Stewart Island and bring them home, and the vessel has not since been heard of. The Roderique brothers went in search last week and have returned with the report that the island on which the party camped is deserted. It is feared that the Cavalier has gone down on the return trip. DUNEDIN. June 15. Captain McGillivray, now in Dunedin, formerly master of the Cavalier, thinks it possible that the missing ketch is sheltering in Easy Harbour or Pegasus Harbour, Stewart’s Island.
