In the Ladies’Bracelet Stratton and Fox won their heats, but were not placed in the final. Melbourne. January 23. At a meeting of the Royal Humane Society, the Queen’s bronze medal for a swimming competition was awarded to James McLeay, and certificates to George Evans and Mary Johnston, pupils of the public school at Lake Takapuna. The Society’s bronze medal was awarded to Duncan McArthur, and Antonio Bobbisehe, for rescuing Climo Macfarlane at Wanganui. THE CHINESE SCANDAL. Adelaide, January 23. The Government intend to take action against Way Lee, for forcible detention of the Chinese girl.
