ADDINGTON MARKETS. (By Telegraph.) ■ CHRISTCHURCH, January 22. There were fair entries in all classes, but the attehdance of buyers was small. CATTLE. About 140 head of fat cattle were yarded. The bulk of the entry consisted of cow beef, but there were two or three good lines of steers. The prices realised were—Steers £5 to £8 ss, heifers £4 10s to £7 2s 6d. cows £4 to £6 15s; beef remains about the same as last week, 19s to 21s per lOOlbs for prime, and 14s to 18s for secondary and cow beef. In daily cattle there was an improved demand for better sorts. Good cows sold at £5 10s to £7 10s, inferior sorts £3 to £5. In store cattle business, on account of harvest, was practically at a standstill. Yearlings sold at £1 Is to £1 7s 6d, 18-months-old cattle £2 9s, 2-yeav-olds £2 10s to £3, 3-year-oids £4l7s 6d, good cows £3los, old cows £lss. SHEEP. There was a large entry of fat sheep, but very few wethers or freezing sheep were penned. Competition was irregular and only butchers prices were ruling. Best wethers sold at 13s to 14s 9d, medium 10s to 12s 6d, freezers mixed sexes 10s to 12s 3d, exhibition ewes 9s 6d to 10s 6d, prime ewes 8s to 9s, medium do 7s to Bs, inferior do 5s to 6s, merino ewes 2s 6d to 4s, merino wethers 6s to 7s 6d. There was a fair entry .of store sheep, but prices dragged somewhat. Four-tooth wethers sold at 11s to 11s 6d, two and four-tooth wethers 9s Id to 10s8d, two and four-tooth wethers and maiden ewes 8s lOd, two-tooth wethers 8s sd, maiden ewes 9s, crossbred ewes 4s 3d to 8s 7d, ewes and lambs 6s 2d, store lambs 3s 9d to 7s 6d. Fat lambs were easier in price, and freezing lambs, which were of a light description, brought 10s to 12s, and butchers lambs, which were hard to quit, 5s to 9s. PIGS. About 250 pigs were yarded. The demand showed an improvement, and all lots sold well. Baconers and porkers averaged 3£d per lb.
BURNSIDE MARKETS. DUNEDIN, January 22. CATTLE. 116 head of fat cattle were yarded. There was but little improvement in the demand. Best,bullocks sold at £8 to £8 17s 6d, medium £6 5s to £7 15s, light £4 5s to £5 15s, best cows and heifers £6 5s to £7 2s 6d, medium £4los to £5 10s, inferior £3los to £4. SHEEP. 1202 fat sheep were penned. Values were, if anything, easier. Best crossbred wethers sold at 11s 6d to 13s, medium do 10s to 11s 3d, light do 8s to 9s 6d, best crossbred ewes 10s to 11s, medium 8s 6d to 9s 9d, inferior 6s 9d to 7s 6d. PIGS. 159 pigs were penned, comprising all sorts except baconers. Suckers sold at 4s to Bs, slips 9s to 12s, stores 12s 6d to 16s, porkers 21s to 265. GRAIN. Wheat.—Very little milling is offering. Fowl wheat is not so firm. Prime milling is quoted at 4s to 4s 3d, medium 3s lOd to 4s, inferior and fowl wheat 3s 4d to 3s 9d. Oats.—The market is exceedingly dull and prices if anything easier. Prime hiilling is quoted at Is ll£d to 2s, good to best feed Is 10id to Is ll£d, medium Is 9d to Is lOd. Barley.—Prime milling is in good demand, while feed is scarce and commands a fair enquiry. Prime milling 3s 2d to 3s 6d, medium 2s 9d to 3s, feed 2s 3d to 2s Bd.
