(By Telegraph.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 10, The taking of evidence in the enquiry into the management of the hospital which is being conducted by Dr Giles commenced to-day. Ten witnesses were examined when the Commission _ adjourned till to-morrow. Allegations of harshness and neglect on the part of the house surgeon, that he had been under the influence of liquor when on duty, that he had smoked in the corridors and wards, and that the food was sometimes bad, were made.
