(By Telegraph.) Wellington Anniversary. WELLINGTON, January 22. There is magnificent weather to-day for the holiday, but the breeze is very light, and unless it increases later it will interfere with the regatta. Fallen off a Tram. A young woman, name at present unknown, fell off the tram near Rawa Elat viaduct this morning. It is believed she received concussion of the brain. The Westport Mines, The Westport Coal Company are resuming the work of developing the Granity Creek mine. Tenders are invited for three contracts, incline, tunneling, etc., which will employ 70 men for six months. The Harbour Board have agreedt o place £15,744 to the credit of the public account, for the purchase of theMokihinui Coal Company’s branch line. Secondary Schools. CHRISTCHURCH, January 22. The Secondary Schools Conference opened this morning with a good attendance of delegates. There were also present the Hon. Reeves, and Rev. W. J. Habens. The President (Mr BevanBrown) and the two visitors delivered longaddresses. The other proceedings this morning were purely formal.
