(Bv Teleqbaph.) NAPIBB, Kovembkb 24. The number on the Napier roll is 4270. 1808 being women.

WELLINGTON, Novbmbbb 24.

The Wellington city roll, containing 16,497 names, has been counted by the staff of the Frees Association, who find that there are 9354 men and 7143 women registered. Five distinct tickets have now been pub* liahed in Wellington, exclusive of the broad lines of Governmet and Opposition candidates. It is an open secret, however, that the sup* porters of these tickets are by no means unanimous, and at least two are not likely to vote uniformly for them. The Government do not intend to interfere in the matter of the non-issue of seamen's rights after the issue of the writ. The Bleotoral Act directs that Begistrars “ shell forthwith, after the issue of the writ, send to the Beturning Officer the list of electors rights." It is held by the /Wellington Beturning Officer, in common with the majority of the Beturning Officers of the colony, that this precludes the issue of seamen's rights after the writ is issued, and Sir Patrick Buckley, who has been waited upon on the subject, says that the Government cannot take it upon themselves to interfere, and that the Beturning Officers must interpret the law for themselves. About 90 or 100 rights had been issued in Wellington prior to -the issue of the writs, and those seamen who failed to procure theirs in time will be simply regarded as ordinary electors capable of voting only--in the electorate in which they are registered. : Sir Bobert Stout addressed a crowded meeting of electors to-night. In speaking as to his position regarding the present Government be said that he was going to support the present Liberal party. He had belonged to the party for the last twenty years, and claimed that with the exception of Sir George Grey be had done more to form and weld together the present liberal party than any other man. He referred to the circular issued that Mr McDonald and Mr McLean were to be the Government candidates, and said that he had communicated with Bir Patrick Buckley and the Hon. J. McKenzie on the matter. Both replied that toe Government had not authorised the circular, and

Mr McKenzie expreseed the hope that W# tioberfc stout wu.uld be at the heed of the poll. A motion of confidence w«i carried awl the meeting pledged itself to return the andidate at the top of the poll.

NELSON, November 24. . Mr Hursthouse received a vote of oonfi' denoe at a meeting to-night. The roll of Nelson contains 3814 name#.
