FOOTBALL.
(By Tbik&baph.) WELLINGTON, AtTC&ST 14. It has been suggested that, as a return for the hospitality shown to the New Zealand football team on the other side, the Aus* tralinns shall be given a somewhat nniqus trip on their visiting the New Zealand Union oext year. The proposs! is that the Karl* borough Union should give the visitors a day in the Sounds, and after playing them send them by special coach to Nelson. After play* ing at Nelson the team would be taken ta Greymoutb, where the West Ooait Union would account for them, showing them over the Grey Valley mines, would drive them across through the Otira Gorge to Springfield by coach, whence they would proceed to play South Canterbury.
OAMABU, August 14.
. At a largely attended meeting of the North Otago football clnbe, it was unanimously decided not to stand by the Otago Union in the position they had taken up with Canter* bury against the South Canterbury Union, and to play tbe match with South Canterbury oven if refused permission by the Otago Union to play.
