Several credit houses have failed in consequence of the premium on gold which has increased to 250.
THE FRENCH TARIFF. Paris, Nov. 25. ife French tariff committee have advanced the import duty on mutton to 32 francs per 100 kilos, and doubled the duties on tinned meats.

cheerfully retire from the position if there had been any diversity of opinion, I but since they were unanimous, he was j willing to again act. The English Liberals still urge him to retire. MR STANLEY AND HIS OFFICERS. Mr Stanley is indignant at the disclosures made by his officers. THE INDIAN RISING. Washington, Nov. 25. Affairs in Dakota are critical. The Indiana are sacking the country, and the troops stationed in the vicinity are insufficient to quell the outbreak. It is feared the rising will spread to Canada,
