The Dunedin Still.
(Bx Telegraph.) DUNEDIN, July 7. Some rather startling evidence has come into the hands of the police in regard to the still recently discovered in Walker street. Donnelly, the man arrested, has all along pleaded that he was innocent, that ho had only been engaged for another job for a'few hours and was then asked to attend to the lire when be was pounced upon. It now appears as it his story was quite true. A man was sent down from Wellington some time ago to act as informer in such cases after hunting them up. Finding stills were scarce commodities he fixed upon the idea of putting one up and engaged a man to do so. When all was ready Donnelly was engaged for a few hours and then the police were put upon the track, the idea no doubt being that in case of conviction and fine the two men would share what would be given t) the informer. To-day the police arrested two man, Waters and Stewart, for being concerned in the affair. It is stated that they had gone to Jnveroargill to arrange a similar trap.
