THE IMPERIAL PARLIAMENT.

(Per Electric Telegraph—Copyright.)

(Special to Press Association.)

(Received noon, June 9th.)

London, June 7.

In the House of Commons Sir James Pergusson said that it was impossible to make a further statement regarding Newfoundland, pending an interview with the Premier. Meanwhile the French and English naval officers were combining to minimise local excitement.

It is probable that an autumn session will be held, provided the Government measures are not allowed to lapse, but are taken up at the stage at which they may be left. (Received 12.25 p.m., Juno 9th.)

Sir George Campbell, in the House of Commons, suggested that the New Hebrides should be ceded to France in exchange for the Newfoundland fisheries. Sir James Fergusson expressed a doubt whether the Australian colonies would agree to such a course.
