At the inquest on those killed in the recent railway accident at Bathurst a verdict was returned that the cause was accidental. A rider was added recommending the use of side couplings, pending the fitting of the rolling stock with stronger gear. A MARBLE QUARRY. A discovery of white marble has been made at Casino, a town on the Richmond river, 505 miles north of Sydney, and it is pronounced to be equal to the finest marble obtained from Carrara. A BIG FAILURE, Melbourne, May I. The estate of Mr James Mirams, secretary of the Permanent Building Association which recently closed its doors, has been placed in liquidation. His liabilities are set down at £373,000, assets, £370,000. CHILDREN IN THEATRES. Two leading theatrical firms have been fined for employing children of tender years in their theatres.
