Ancient Order of Foresters.
COURT SOUTHERN CROSS, No. 3123,
The quarterly meeting of the above court was held on Tuesday evening at the Foresters’ Hall.. Brother Hubert Tonoycliffe, the newly-eleotod Chief Ranger presided, supported by Bro. 8. Mcßride, S.C.R., and the attendance, of members was most satisfactory.
After the presentation of the sick report, .which still continues more favourable, the auditors’ report and balance sheet for the quarter were read and adopted.- As showing the heavy sickness lately experienced it will suffice to mention that no less than £B2 2s 4d ,-has been expended on sibk pay during the last three months. The total receipts for the same - period have been £207 3s, and the present total value of the courts’ funds is £5150 4s sd. During the quarter 12 benefit and I honorary member have joined, and 10 members have left from various causes; arrears, and having loft the district, &c. The members at present on the,books are 279 benefit members, 14 honorary, 3 members’ widows, 5 “ other courts,” and 28 members’ daughters, or a total on tho books of 329.
During the evening it was the pleasing duty of C.R. Bro. Toneyoliffe to present Bro. Werry PC.B.j with a Past Chief’s certificate handsomely framed, together with a P.O.R. neck ribbon and silver star. Bro. Toneycliffs in a very genial manner wished the recipient every happiness in the future and Bro, Worry suitably replied, thanking the brethren for the uniform kindness to,. ; him and assuring them that ho was always prepared to 'do his duty as a .Forester. Two candidates were proposed for membership, after which the C.R. closed the court in the usual manner.
The receipts for the evening amounted to £125.
