AUCKLAND, May 13,
Three volunteers, Costello, Butler, and Thornton, were charged to-day at the police court with the larceny of an accordeon and a j ir of brandy from Porter’s Hotel, Mercer, on the occasion of the Easter encampment. The cases were remanded.
At a public meeting a committee was appointed to-night to arrange for the reception of Mr Dillon and the other Irish delegates, should they accept the invitation to come to Auckland. It was resolved to ask the Auckland members of Parliament to allow their names to be placed on the committee.
WELLINGTON, May 13
The Premier has so far recovered as to bo able to resume his duties at the Treasury Buildings to-day. The Acclimatisation Society Lave sent home for a supply of English partridges, which are to be liberated iu the Wellington district.
HOKITIKA, May 13
The William Tell Company have struck a four feet reef in No. 2 level, carrying rich gold. There is very great excitement over the find.
The Minister of Mines was occupied by various local bodies all day, and was entertained by tb6 mayor to-night. He leaves for the north to-morrow morning.
